How to Setup Netgear Orbi RBK864S Mesh WiFi System?

A Netgear Orbi RBK864S Mesh system has WiFi 6 technology, which is the latest one. In this mesh system, you will receive a pack of 4-nodes; out of which one will work as a main router and other three will work as a satellite. The Orbi RBK864S has a tri-band mesh WiFi system; one is 2.4 GHz and other two are 5 GHz.

Setting up the Netgear Orbi RBK864S is quiet easy and simple process; by following few steps you setup the Orbi by your own at home. Moving on, let’s have a look about how you do it;

Steps to Setup Orbi RBK864S Mesh System

Here we will talk about the complete setup of Netgear Orbi RBK864S.

Connect Router to Modem

Use the first node as a router and connect it with a modem.
To connect, you need to place the router next to the modem.
Then make a connection between them using Ethernet cable.
After that simply turn on the router and modem.

Sync Orbi Router with Satellite

Firstly, place all the satellites around the house, with enough distance between all the satellites and router.
Now, power on the satellites and sync it with the router.
To sync, press the sync button or router and within 2 minutes press the same button on the satellite. Repeat this step with all the satellites one-by-one
You can also connect the satellites with router using Ethernet cable, as well.

Configuration via URL

Here we will configure the mesh system by Orbi admin login.

First, we need to connect our computer with Orbi network, using Ethernet cable or connecting with the Orbi WiFi network.
Afterwards, you need to open the updated web browser and type orbilogin.net and press enter to reach the interface Orbilogin page.
After reaching the interface, enter the default credentials; you can the check the label of router for the username and password.
Once you are logged in, you will directed to the dashboard where you can simply adhere to the on-screen instructions to complete the Netgear Orbi RBK864S setup process.

After the setup or during the setup; if you faced any issue then follow these troubleshooting tips.

Troubleshooting Tips

These tips will help you to overcome the problem.

Firmware

If there is a new, updated Orbi firmware for your Orbi system, the Orbi app might ask you to upgrade it. Make sure your system is running the most recent software, and if not then update it from the interface.

Restart

You can restart your Orbi RBK864S, if you are unable to access WiFi or the interface. Just simply pull out the adapter and the wires attached to the router and then wait for few minutes. After few minutes, just simply plug in the adapter and connect all the wires back. You can repeat this step for all the other satellites, as well.

Reset

This is the usually the last step; after reset you need to configure the Orbi RBK864S again by Orbilogin interface, as it will set the device to default factory settings. You need to locate a small pin hole at the back your router. Just simply insert the paper clip to that hole and hold it for 10 seconds and then release it; it will set your router to default factory settings. You can repeat this step with all the other nodes, as well.
