Important Note
Orbi is a mesh WiFi system and if you want to connect it to the Smart Home Hub ensure that the hub is placed close to the nearest satellite. Or you can also consider placing the Hub close to the Orbi router itself. You should place your Orbi, hub, and phone close together for the connection process. After the connection, you can relocate the Smart Home Hub.
Steps to Connect Orbi Mesh Router to Aeotec Smart Hub
Given below are the steps that you should follow to connect your Orbi mesh router and the Aeotec Smart Hub. But, know that it will only be possible if your Orbi has the following ports open.

You can check the opened ports with the help of Port Forwarding/Port Triggering rules at orbilogin.net. Once done, follow the steps given below for Aeotec Smart Home Hub and Orbi mesh router connection through WiFi:
- At first, you will have to download the SmartThings app on your mobile phone.
- As soon as the SmartThings app gets installed, launch it.
- You will be prompted to create an Aeotec account.
- For this, tap Sign In > Create Account.
- A screen displaying Samsung Terms and Conditions will appear.
- Tap Agree.
- Fill in the Email address, password, confirmation password, first and last name along with the ZIP code and date of birth.
- Tap Next > Done.
- Select the country.
- After creating the account, connect the power adapter to your Aeotec Smart Home Hub.
- Power up your Smart Home Hub by connecting it to a working wall outlet.
Note: If you wish to connect your mesh router and Aeotech Smart Hub via an Ethernet cable, you should connect them now.
- Once the LED starts flashing red and green alternatively, you’ll get 30 minutes to finalize the connection.
- Return to the SmartThings app and tap the + icon.
- Select Add Device > Add (next to Partner Devices).
- Choose Aeotec > Add without QR Code.
- Select Smart Home Hub > Can’t find your device?
- Choose WiFi/Ethernet and tap Next.
- The app will prompt you to power up the hub if you haven’t done that yet.
- Scan the QR code located on the back of the Aeotec Hub using the mobile’s camera.
- You can also add the device by serial number.
- You will now be prompted to join the SmartThings WiFi network. The network name will be in the “st-hubv3-YYY format where YYY can be any 3-digit number.
- Tap Connect.
- Now, you are suggested to select the Orbi router mesh network (WiFi name).
- Enter the password and tap Connect.
- You can skip the above 2 steps if you are using an Ethernet connection between the mesh router and hub.
- Wait for a few moments and let your devices get connected.
- The hub will be registered and firmware updates will be checked.
- In case a new firmware is available, the hub will install it.
- It will take 5-10 minutes and the light on your hub will blink blue.
- The app will ask you to give a geolocation to the hub as soon as the connection gets completed.
- Select Tap Here to Set a Location and drag the pin to your location.
- Tap Done.
- Name your hub and tap Done.
Your devices are now connected. Know that the setup might fail if the router is working on an outdated firmware version. Thus, ensure that the router is flaunting the latest Orbi firmware updateversion.
