If there’s an issue connecting satellites to the router, you won’t access the internet in all parts of your home. To help you out, we have presented fixes that will help you connect satellites to the router. Find them listed ahead:
Bring Orbi Satellite Close to Router
An excessive distance between the Orbi satellite and router is one of the main reasons why the devices can’t be connected. You should unplug the satellite from its current outlet and plug it somewhere near the router so that there is a smooth signal transmission. In other words, the satellite has to be placed in the range of the Orbi router. If you see a magenta light on the Orbi satellite this means it failed to connect to the router. Try the next hack in that case.
Plug Orbi Devices to Alternative Sockets
Your Orbi devices should be plugged into well working outlets so that they receive consistent power. The Orbi router can’t find satellites if the satellite is not turned on properly. To ensure stable electricity, plug Orbi into different outlets. Also, check the power adapter of your Orbi devices that they shouldn’t be loose or damaged.
Update Firmware
In case the firmware on the Orbi devices is not compatible then also there will be a problem while connecting them. Check if any Orbi firmware update is available. You should update your Orbi router and satellite to the same firmware version and then try to connect them.
Reboot and Retry the Connection

The glitches are also removed this way.To reboot the router and satellites, unplug them from the wall outlet. After letting the devices remain unplugged for about a couple of minutes, you should plug them back. As soon as the devices are booted up, let the router find the satellite.
Manually Connect the Devices
In case your Orbi router can’t find satellites then you should try connecting the devices manually. You can use the Sync button on the devices to connect them. Here’s how:
- Plug in the Orbi devices and place them next to each other.
- Locate and press the Sync button on the Orbi router.
- Within a time span of 2 minutes, press the Sync button on the Satellite.
Let the devices connect. Wait for some time. Observe the Orbi light colors. See ahead the meaning of the ring light on your Orbi satellite:
- Solid Amber – The devices are not connected. Reduce the distance between them and tryto connect them back.
- Solid Magenta – The light stays magenta for 90 to 180 seconds then also the devices haven’t synced with each other. Try to reconnect them by checking the power supply and bringing them closer.
- Solid Blue – Your Orbi router and satellite are synced if the light is solid blue for 90-180 seconds.
